Common Misconceptions Surrounding Epoxy Coating Maintenance
Following on from our previous blog addressing some of the misconceptions surrounding epoxy flooring installation, we felt it apt to address some of the misconceptions surrounding its maintenance. When conducting anything from industrial floor repairs to applying floor coatings, it’s essential to understand the whole process, and the same applies once the flooring has set. Therefore we want to help you wade through some of the misconceptions to enable you to fully look after your flooring.
First Misconception: All Flooring Is Maintained the Same Way
As each of our blogs state, concrete flooring – epoxy in particular – offers a fantastic solution for dealing with impact and traffic. However, it’s important to consider your coating when deciding upon your cleaning schedule; epoxies, urethanes and acrylics each have their own specific routine, so make sure you know which flooring you’re dealing with prior to cleaning to prevent harming it.
Second Conception: Cleaners Will Know How to Clean It
While it isn’t ridiculous to assume that they would have prior knowledge, it pays to make sure that your cleaning staff are aware of what they are dealing with. Your flooring can have somewhat of a niche routine when it comes to cleaning, so to protect your surface it is a good idea to run through just how your floor needs to be cleaned, with your cleaning team.
Third Misconception: There Is No Need to Use Chemicals
While epoxy flooring is fantastically durable, and in many ways can ‘look afteritself’, it is still flooring. Much like other flooring types, it does require somewhat abrasive chemicals in order to remove dirt and breakdown any debris which may be on it; as above, make sure that you are using the correct chemicals for the specific flooring in order to ensure that your epoxy resin coating lives to see another day.
Epoxy coating is great for handling impact, but it’s essential to make sure that you and your staff are addressing its cleaning needs appropriately. Understanding the misconceptions is a step in the right direction, but if you have any questions, or would like to speak to one of our flooring experts, then don’t hesitate to get in touch.
