How to Keep Your Epoxy Floor in Tip-Top Condition
At PSR Industrial Flooring, our industrial floor coatings are the perfect solution to providing your flooring with an extended longevity. Not only is it able to deal with larger levels of impact and footfall, it actually serves to protect the concrete flooring beneath it.
However, like anything, if you don’t care for it, it won’t last; flooring is no exception. In fact, flooring can be very susceptible to any stress or pressure put on it if not treated correctly. As such, it is important to make sure you cater to your floor’s “needs”, cleaning and undertaking maintenance whenever it is required.
Clean Up Spillages
While an epoxy coating has an outstanding waterproof nature, if left it can begin to cause problems. Therefore make sure that spillages are attended to swiftly with a soft cloth or paper towel. Make sure that chemical spillages are treat to with more haste, as whilst an epoxy coating can handle chemical attack, if left it can lead to depreciation.
Through cleaning your floor with a soft broom regularly, you prevent dirt or stone being trodden into your floor. While it may be durable, repeated ‘grating’ from dirt and grit will be detrimental if left for too long.
If you keep on top of scrubbing your floor, then the task of keeping it clean will be lessened. Through the weekly use of an automatic scrubber and a mild detergent, you can keep your floor gleaming and clean. Make sure the detergent you use isn’t too strong as this can actually be detrimental to your floor’s survival – a non-alkaline is preferred.
Opt For Mats
One more obvious way to give your floor a separate level of protection is to use mats. Where debris is rifer and around where doors can scratch floor surfaces, the use of mats can offer an extra level of protection. While epoxy coating is already hard-wearing, the frequency that a door opens could lead to unnecessary gouging.
An epoxy resin coating is the ultimate for your concrete floor in that it adds an extremely durable layer of protection which can cope with the repeated impact and footfall that one associates with an industrial setting. However, as stated, if allowed to depreciate, or left to fend for itself, then the life of it will be greatly reduced and the aesthetics will be ultimately tarnished. So stay on top of it!
