Tips for Maintaining Your Polished Concrete Floor
The team at PSR Industrial Flooring pride ourselves on delivering a reliable and durable flooring solution, particularly when finished off with our industrial floor coatings. Furthermore, we feel that it is important to deliver information to help our valued customers make the most of their installation; one of the best ways of which is through the provision of our industry-insider blog.
Polished flooring is a finish which is continually popular across a range of applications, industrial or otherwise. However, because polished concrete offers an attractive aesthetic with its smooth covering, it can be important to make sure that you keep on top of its maintenance in order to hold onto that shiny appearance.
Before wet mopping your floor, try dust mopping initially to remove any excess dust and dirt that will dull your floor. Following this, also treat your floor to an occasional wet mopping to reduce any excess dirt that can ruin the smooth and shiny appearance of your flooring.
Use Neutral pH Cleaner
When selecting the cleaning chemical for your flooring, make sure that it’s non-acidic. These will eat away at and begin to deteriorate the shiny aesthetic of your fresh polished floor. Equally, when cleaning your floor, don’t just give it a cat-lick. Give your cleaning solution enough time to attack the surface dirt so that it can thoroughly break it down.
Clean Up Spills
As with any flooring surface, make sure you cater to spillages immediately. The longer you leave it, the more your floor will absorb it or begin to be eaten at by the spillage. Make sure that you treat each spillage in the manner as recommended by the manufacturer of the liquid.
Monitor High Traffic Areas
High traffic areas undergo a lot more stress and impact on a daily basis, so make sure that you clean these more regularly. These may need anything from mopping more frequently, to careful buffering. The longevity and aesthetics of your floor will be greatly improved if you take note to monitor the high traffic areas a little more closely.
Whether your flooring is polished, epoxy coated or just simply concrete, it requires a little love. The key to keeping the polished aesthetics as smooth and shiny as they are, is through careful monitoring and keeping on top of the maintenance. If however, you find yourself in the position of your floor needing repairing, or even a new floor all together, our PSR Industrial Flooring team can help you out; all you have to do is get in touch!
