PSR Industrial Flooring Ltd was appointed by clients FCC Elliott – a joint venture between Spanish infrastructure giant FCC Construction and Irish contractor P. Elliott, to return the 46,000 m2 floor space of the London Olympics 2012 International Broadcast Centre [IBC], to a rejuvenated state ready to receive further coverings.

The project started mid-November and had a specified six week project timescale. The floors were taken back by the PSR team using high performance HTC planetary grinders powered by LPG generators. This had the advantage of being 99% dust-free, self-contained and emitting water vapour as opposed to other toxic fumes.

Paul Radley, Managing Director of PSR Industrial Flooring Ltd, said:
“We were delighted to win this high profile contract from our clients FCC Elliott following the lengthy tender process. We were however constantly mindful of the huge penalty disclosures that would be incurred should the technical transformation of the floors not be completed on time. We had 12 engineers working around the clock, 7 days per week to ensure there were no delays and we used colossal amounts of different diamond tooling along with epoxy resins to treat spalled areas where internal walls had been removed”.

PSR Industrial Flooring Ltd are one of a very few companies who use the LPG generators that emit water-vapour. Following heavy investment into high-performance equipment, PSR are able to offer clients a quality flooring finish at very competitive prices which are more environmentally friendly. Paul concludes:
“We have previously worked for the Olympic sponsors Coca Cola on various flooring projects, including a warehouse site also at the Olympic Park containing all food and beverage for those at the Games. We have always delivered on time and to budget and our clients have always been pleased with the end result. I am happy to say on this occasion we were able to hand the project over two days early to the delight of our clients FCC Elliott JV”.
